In-House Tooling

The Burkland Inc. Advantage to Tooling
The reliability of any precision-made part depends on the quality of the tooling used to produce it. For Burkland, all of the tooling required to produce a given part is created, assembled, and maintained at Burkland; therefore, there is no separation between the tools themselves, the production process of creating the parts with those tools, and the finished product. This is important since tooling is not simply a piece of equipment that can be put away after a project has started.
The tooling must consistently deliver performance and be kept up to date throughout its lifetime. Additionally, if the production schedule or part specifications change, the tooling will need to be reconfigured accordingly. Having all of these activities under one roof allows Burkland to focus on the details that impact the consistency and reliability of each part produced.
Built and Maintained In-House
Because Burkland designs, builds, and maintains tooling in-house, the people who support the tools work closely with the people producing the parts. That direct connection makes communication easier and allows the team to respond quickly when a tool needs attention.
It also gives Burkland more control over the details that matter. Instead of relying entirely on an outside tool supplier, we can evaluate tooling needs alongside the production process and make practical decisions based on the part, the program, and the customer’s requirements.
Supporting New and Ongoing Programs
Tooling plays an important role during the launch of a new program, but its value continues throughout the life of the part. As production moves forward, tooling may require maintenance, repair, adjustment, or improvement to support consistent performance.
Burkland’s in-house tooling capability helps support both new part programs and ongoing production work. Whether you are developing a new component, transferring an existing part, or reviewing a current production issue, we can look at the tooling and manufacturing process together.
A Practical Approach to Tooling
The best tooling solution is not always the most complicated one. It is the one that supports the part requirements, production volume, quality expectations, and long-term needs of the program.
Burkland takes a practical approach to tooling. We focus on understanding the part, building the right tool for the job, and maintaining it so production can continue with fewer interruptions and more consistent results.
Start With the Part
If you have a new part, an existing drawing, or a component that needs a closer look, send us the information that matters most. Material specifications, expected volume, critical dimensions, timing, and functional requirements all help us understand the tooling and production needs of the project.
